All our blinds are designed with child safety in mind to ensure that they can be operated in a safe manner to protect your children and pets. Unrestrained cords, loops and chains are a potential hazard to young children who many become entangled in them. To avoid the possibility we do not use chains or hazardous loops in the manufacture of specification of our natural wood blinds and we supply safety cleats as standard with every world blind, along with recommendations for safe use.

Our wood blinds comply with all windows covering legislation and meet European safety standards.

Blind cords and chains can pose a risk for babies and young children who could injure or even strangle themselves on hanging looped cords. Users of blinds should be aware of the potential hazards that exist by restrained cords. braids, loop chains and wires. To reduce the risk of accidents in the home, there are a number of practical and simple precautions which you should take.

Position furniture a safe distance away from blind and windows to prevent children from being able to reach them. Do not allow control cords or chains to hang close to cots or beds or to gather on the floor. Do not allow control cords to hang loose. They should always be secured out of reach, or a cordless control should be used. Never leave a child unsupervised in an area where there a potential safety hazards – even if safety devices have been installed.

The CEN standard states that “persons in charge of children are ultimately responsible for following the safety instructions provided by the manufacturer”. We fully support the “Make It Safe” campaign and making our products safer for homes with toddlers and young children is a top priority for us. For this reason, every blind you order will be accompanied by a cord safety device, which enables any cords or chains to be securely fastened to the wall, minimising the risk to children.
